Sea-Doo 4-TEC Propulsion Unit Rebuild Kit – Bearings and Seals (2004-2018)
What is a drive unit rebuild kit?
The drive unit is the heart of your Sea-Doo's propulsion. Constantly exposed to water, salt, and debris, it gradually wears down: grinding bearings, leaking seals, abnormal vibrations. This 4-TEC drive unit rebuild kit (ref. 003-645) includes all the bearings and seals needed to restore your drive unit to its original condition, without having to replace the entire unit.
Timely overhaul of the drive unit prevents costly damage to the propeller shaft, stator, or housing.

How to know if your drive unit needs to be serviced?
Several symptoms indicate drive unit wear:
- Unusual vibrations felt underfoot or in the hull
- Bearing noise or grinding sound during acceleration
- Loss of thrust or top speed
- Presence of water in the engine compartment (seal leak)
- Detectable axial or radial play on the propeller shaft
If you notice any of these signs, a drive unit overhaul with this kit is recommended before each season or every 100 to 150 hours of navigation.
Installation and assembly tips
Installing this kit requires complete disassembly of the drive unit. We recommend:
- A bearing puller adapted to the diameter of the drive unit
- A bearing press or mounting arbor
- Water-resistant marine grease for the seals
- Torque specifications in accordance with BRP recommendations (workshop manual)
If you are not equipped for this intervention, contact an authorized Sea-Doo technician. Incorrect bearing assembly can lead to rapid failure and damage to the drive unit.
