⚠️ Always check your serial number (VIN) and the original OEM reference before ordering to confirm exact compatibility with your model. If your crankshaft is worn, the bearings will not fit without prior regrinding — consult your mechanic to determine the necessary repair size.

Why Replace Connecting Rod and Crankshaft Bearings?

Connecting rod and crankshaft bearings are critical wear parts of the lower engine. Subjected to high pressures and temperatures, they ensure sliding between moving parts and protect the crankshaft. Premature wear or lack of lubrication can cause irreversible engine damage.

  • Knocking noise on startup or acceleration
  • Abnormally low oil pressure
  • Excessive play on connecting rod or crankshaft
  • Abnormal oil consumption
  • Unusual engine vibrations

Understanding Repair Sizes: STD, +0.25 mm and +0.50 mm

When a crankshaft or connecting rod pin shows signs of wear, scratches, or ovalization, the mechanic performs a regrind: this operation consists of grinding the journal (bearing surface) to restore a perfectly circular geometry and a smooth surface. This grinding reduces the diameter of the journal by a precise and standardized value, called the repair size.

The bearings are then manufactured with a corresponding increased thickness, to compensate for the material removed and to restore the optimal operating clearance prescribed by the manufacturer. Three sizes are available in this kit:

  • STD (Standard) – Original bearing, for an unground crankshaft or connecting rod pin, to factory dimensions. To be used during preventive replacement on an engine in good condition.
  • +0.25 mm (add 25) – Bearing increased by 0.25 mm in thickness, intended for a crankshaft or pin ground by a first pass of 0.25 mm. Corresponds to the first repair size.
  • +0.50 mm (add 50) – Bearing increased by 0.50 mm in thickness, for a larger regrind of 0.50 mm. Corresponds to the second repair size, used when the first regrind is no longer sufficient or when wear is more advanced.

⚠️ The choice of repair size must be determined by a qualified mechanic, using a micrometer, after precise measurement of the reground diameter. An incorrect size would result in unsuitable operating clearance, potentially causing premature engine failure.
