Damaged Screw Extractor – Set of 4/5/6 pcs, HSS Steel, Centering Drill Bit | Nautical Workshop
Description
Broken or Damaged Screw Extractor – HSS Carbide Tip Set, 4 to 6 pcs | Marine, Mechanical, Wood Fasteners
Stripped screw, rounded head, seized bolt: this TOOLEYE damaged screw extractor kit is designed to retrieve inaccessible fasteners without damaging the workpiece. Made from HSS (High-Speed Steel) with a tungsten carbide tip, it combines a centering drill bit and a reverse helical extractor for clean and controlled extraction. Available in 4, 5, or 6-piece sets, it covers common fasteners in marine, mechanical, and woodworking workshops.

Highlights
1. Tungsten Carbide Tip – Precise Centering Without Slipping
The carbide tip allows drilling a centered pilot hole directly into the damaged screw head without slipping. This centering is key to successful extraction: the deeper and more centered the hole, the better the extractor grips and removes the screw effectively.
2. Reverse Helical Extractor – Counter-Clockwise Rotation Extraction
Once the pilot hole is made, flip the tool and insert the extractor into the hole. By slowly turning counter-clockwise with a drill or screwdriver, the helical threads bite into the screw and progressively unscrew it. A proven technique, without brutal force.
3. HSS 4341 Steel – Hardness 58-60 HRC for Common Fasteners
The HSS 4341 composition offers sufficient hardness to extract screws from mild steel, iron, and wood. For high-hardness materials (stainless steel, hardened steel), prefer the gold version or consult the usage limits below.
4. Complete 4 to 6 Piece Set – Covers Common Sizes
The multi-piece set allows you to choose the appropriate extractor for the diameter of the screw to be removed. Store the kit in its case (depending on the version) for quick access in the workshop or on board.
Compatibility
This extractor kit is compatible with the following fasteners:
- ✅ Screws made of mild steel, iron, and common alloys
- ✅ Wood screws (all types of wood)
- ✅ Seized bolts and nuts made of standard steel
- ✅ Bodywork screws, light outboard motors, plastic/aluminum marine accessories
- ⚠️ Stainless steel: possible to use but results vary depending on hardness – gold version recommended
- ❌ High-hardness tempered steel (> 60 HRC): not recommended, risk of slipping or extractor breakage
⚠️ Important Note: This extractor is designed for orthodromic screws (standard thread). It is not suitable for reverse-threaded screws.
Use and Tips
- Selection: Choose an extractor with a diameter smaller than that of the damaged screw.
- Drilling: Use the centering drill bit (tip side) to drill a pilot hole in the center of the screw head. The deeper the hole, the more effective the extraction will be.
- Extraction: Flip the tool, insert the extractor into the hole, and slowly turn counter-clockwise (drill or screwdriver). Do not accelerate abruptly.
- Speed: Always work at a slow and steady speed. Too high a speed reduces grip and risks damaging the extractor.
- Seized or Rusted Screws: Apply a penetrating oil (WD-40 or equivalent) before the operation to facilitate unscrewing.
⚠️ Reminder: The entire process must be done in reverse rotation (counter-clockwise). Never use in clockwise rotation, as this risks permanently seizing the extractor in the screw.
Retrieve your fasteners without damaging the workpiece with this TOOLEYE HSS screw extractor kit – the essential tool for any serious marine or mechanical workshop.
