Steering Cable Sea-Doo GTX / GTX DI / RXT / Wake – OEM 277001438 / 277001578 / 277001555 (2002–2014)
Overview
The steering cable is the direct mechanical link between your handlebars and the propulsion nozzle. On Sea-Doo models with Rotax 4-Tec and DI (Direct Injection) engines, this cable is subjected to significant stress: torsion, vibrations, exposure to saltwater and UV rays. A faulty cable results in stiff, imprecise, or locked steering—a dangerous situation at high speeds.
This replacement cable is designed for the GTX DI, GTX 4-Tec, RXT, and Wake ranges from 2002 to 2014. It directly replaces Bombardier OEM part numbers 277001438, 277001578, and 277001555, offering direct installation without modification.

Why Replace the Steering Cable?
Here are the symptoms indicating a necessary replacement:
- ✅ Stiff, resistant, or catching steering when turning
- ✅ Excessive play or imprecision in turns
- ✅ Visible corrosion, cracking, or deformation of the cable
- ✅ Abnormal vibrations transmitted to the handlebars
- ✅ Annual preventive maintenance recommended
On GTX DI and 4-Tec models, the steering cable is particularly exposed to corrosion in marine environments. Preventive replacement every 3 to 5 years is advised to maintain precise and safe steering.
